We have two events that run on Lady Elliot Island, the jewell of the Great Barrier Reef.
“One of my favourite islands in all the Oceans”
Darren’s first encounter with Lady Elliot was in 1986 and after being captivated on that early trip, he’s been visiting frequently ever since, shooting still photography commissions and film projects. In 2013 he founded the original “Foto Frenzy on Lady Elliot Island” which has since become a sold-out annual event.
For snorkellers, Lady Elliot is blessed with a shallow, sheltered coral lagoon that’s home to a flotilla of friendly young turtles and myriad reef fish, right in front of your room. Off the island’s western side is an easily accessible reef edge and locations such as Second Reef, Arches and Coral Gardens where you’ll find all the species the Great Barrier Reef can deliver in clear water above a variety of terrain.
SCUBA divers have some great dives to explore and whilst all sites are conditions-dependant, your possible dive sites include all of Lady Elliot’s famous locations including: Lighthouse Bommies, Maori Wrasse Bommie, Spiders Ledge, Three Pyramids, the wreck of the “Severance” … and if conditions allow, the famous Blow Hole, The Tubes and Hiro’s Cave. Turtles, mantas, bull rays, reef sharks, big schools of pelagics plus the abundant invertebrate and reef fish life make all of Lady Elliot’s dives full of incredible sights.
